This is one of the most active locations on our events list. This amazing venues has a lot of history and as a result a lot of spirits that still linger here from nuns, to soldiers and dark masses and unexplained sounds and are said to be aroused when wartime songs and sirens are played throughout the building.
Many soldiers are said to frequent these barracks with investigators reporting seeing apparitions of soldiers walking through the rooms and their presence is often accompanied by poltergeist type activity. A solider believed to be called James or Jack is said to haunt the barracks and paranormal groups have reported him to have an eye for women. It is said that if he is attracted to the woman he has a habit of grabbing and inappropriately touching them. If it a woman that he finds less attractive he is said to try to scare them and physically push them. He is said to only interact with female investigators and believes himself to be superior to other men and will ignore and not react to their requests.
A tea lady has been seen in the Drill Hall and the spirit of an angry man that is said to have pushed many visitors upon their visits to the barracks. One occasions guests have reported being pushed down the stairs and into walls. This man is said to come through with a feeling of great anger and can bring an oppressive atmosphere when he enters the room.
A black, three legged dog named Bruce, who lived at the barracks, often seen and is believed to be looking for his master. At times he is also heard growling from a silent, darkened room.
Additionally to this nuns and nurses have been witnessed setting about their daily duties seemingly unaware that they have been observed by the living.
As if this wasn’t enough, in the cellar, a sinister dark shadow has often been reported and has resulted in guests being literally scared stiff and unable to move through fear and shock.
What will YOU witness when you come too this amazing venue? Will you be brave enough for a lone vigil? One thing is for sure this event is ONLY FOR THE BRAVE and the hardened investigator.
The building was designed as the war office headquarters of the 47th Lancashire Rifle Volunteer Corps and completed in 1861. Since this time it has housed many of the armed forces through both World Wars and battles. It has also been the headquarters of 2nd Volunteer South Lancashire Regiment and throughout the wars it housed wounded soldiers and also, as many other barracks used as a morgue. This building has certainly seen some of the most traumatic periods of history that have left a paranormal footprint in its wake, it is no wonder that this building is so very active.
